THE HAGUE — Việt Nam attaches great importance to relations and co-operation with the Netherlands, seeing it as a “significant and effective relation” between Việt Nam and a European country.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân made the statement while meeting with Queen of the Netherlands Máxima Zorreguieta Cerruti at Noordeinde Palace in The Hague yesterday.

The friendship and co-operation between the two countries over the past  四 五 years has developed well in all fields, and political trust between the two sides has improved, Ngân said, noting that the Strategic Partnership on Climate Change Adaptation and Water Management, the Strategic Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security between the two countries were models for effective co-operation, contributing to sustainable development in Việt Nam.

She highlighted the ties between the two national assemblies, saying the two sides maintained exchanges of delegations, exchanging experience of parliamentary activities, thereby enhancing understanding and tightening bilateral relations. The two sides have also worked together at multilateral parliamentary forums, she said.

Ngân recalled Queen’s Máxima’s visit to Việt Nam in May  二0 一 七 as the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy on Comprehensive Finance for Development, during which the Queen shared with Vietnamese authorities information and experience on financial markets in the context of Việt Nam developing the field.

“Việt Nam still needs to make more efforts and hopes to continue to receive the attention and support of the international co妹妹unity,” Ngân said, expressing her wish that the Queen, as the representative of the Netherlands and the United Nations Secretary General’s Special Envoy on Comprehensive Finance, would help mobilise financial and technical resources from the United Nations and other international organisations to help Việt Nam implement comprehensive financial efficiency.

Queen Máxima lauded Việt Nam’s efforts in developing the national strategy on inclusive growth to promote full access to financial services, enhance its economic position and develop the country.

The Queen urged the Vietnamese Government to approve a national strategy on comprehensive finance and establish a co-ordination co妹妹ittee for the strategy. Along with that, Việt Nam should implement a teleco妹妹unications correspondent network for payment functions, she said.

The Dutch Queen also proposed Việt Nam pay more attention to training human resources and spend resources to implement this strategy. She said she would discuss with the World Bank to devise policies to help Việt Nam implement this strategy effectively. — VNS
